2023 Singapore Short Trip (3 Days 2 Nights) - Gardens By The Bay 2 (Supertree Observatory)

Gardens By The Bay

The Supertrees, which range in height from 25 to 50 meters, are not only vertical gardens. They are technological marvels that serve important environmental functions: they collect falling rain to use for watering the plants they house, they measure the temperature, absorb heat and, if necessary, radiate it.

SUPERTREE GROVE
The grove consists of 18 Supertrees which are made from reinforced concrete and wrapped in a steel frame. While the trees are not wood, they do have planting panels which are installed along the trunk of the tree. This creates a living skin of plants that cover the entire tree trunk.

Supertrees facts:
Designed by Grant Associates the Supertrees are vertical gardens ranging from 25 to 50 metres in height (equivalent to 9 to 16 storeys) housing tropical flowering climbers, epiphytes and ferns. There are Supertrees within Bay South at Gardens by the Bay.

Although the grounds in the gardens are free to enter, you must pay to walk along the “Skyway” high amongst the Supertrees. Enter the park from the Dragonfly Bridge, which is the perfect spot to get some photographs of the large Supertrees, the Singapore Flyer and Marina Bay Sands.

Get your cameras ready! Located at the tallest Supertree’s canopy, the Supertree Observatory offers unparalleled views of Gardens by the Bay’s lush surrounds and the Marina Bay area. Enjoy refreshments, an immersive digital learning experience, endless photo opportunities, and an unforgettable time at the Gardens’ highest point!

The new Supertree Observatory (擎天树观景台) at Gardens by the Bay opened today, offering visitors 360° views of the surrounding Marina Bay area. At 50m above ground, it is perched on top of the tallest Supertree at Supertree Grove.

Visitors ascend to the top of the Supertree Observatory via a lift concealed within the trunk of the Supertree. At the top, there are two main areas for visitors to access:

  • The open-air circular rooftop deck, the highest point in Gardens by the Bay, offers an unblocked 360° view of the Gardens as well as the Marina Bay area.
  • The observatory space located one level below the rooftop deck, which consists of an indoor area with full-height glass windows, as well as a peripheral outdoor walkway. Here, visitors can also experience a message about the effects of climate change creatively conveyed through digital media.

The entire garden, despite its energy-efficient and green credentials, not to mention its increasing reputation as a conservation area for rare plants, cost three quarters of a million US dollars to build.

Supertree Grove is another feather in the hat of Singapore's utopian architecture. These 'Supertrees' are aesthetically pleasing structures designed to resemble trees. Standing between 25 and 50 meters tall these canopies provide shade in the morning and feature a dazzling light show at night.

Supertree Grove is another feather in the hat of Singapore’s utopian architecture. These ‘Supertrees’ are aesthetically pleasing structures designed to resemble trees. Standing between 25 and 50 meters tall these canopies provide shade in the morning and feature a dazzling light show at night. 12 out of 18 of these Supertrees stand in the Gardens by the Bay, which is a nature park in the heart of Singapore. This botanical garden is so beautiful that it even inspired the artwork of the fictional world of Xander in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy! Read on to learn all about the Supertree Grove and what you can expect from it.

Satay by the Bay is ingeniously designed to mimic a giant canopy that spreads over the venue, inviting the sea breeze to work its magic while patrons enjoy their food. With wide, spacious seating and a seemingly endless selection of stalls from local to regional and international food, you’d be spoilt for choice when it comes to savouring the best they have to offer!

But...we are not having dinner there...since we need catch MRT back to hotel after we see some raining signal.....
