2023 Singapore Short Trip (3 Days 2 Nights) - Fort Canning Park

Fort Canning Park - Today morning visiting plan in Singapore.  The park is just located beside our hotel.

So - we left Hotel (Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay) by 11AM after heavy breakfast......we walked around 15 - 20 min to reach the park.

We passed through a local chinese temple.

Fort Canning Park

Fort Canning Hill, formerly Government Hill, Singapore Hill and Bukit Larangan, is a small hill, about 48 metres high, in the southeast portion of the island city-state of Singapore, within the Central Area that forms Singapore's central business district.

Singapore River....we need cross this river (Singapore River) by bridge before reaching Fort Canning Park.

The Fort Canning Tree Tunnel is one of the iconic photo spots in Singapore. Built with a spiral staircase on the edge of Fort Canning Park, when one looks up from the bottom of the staircase, they will be greeted by the sight of the trees and silhouettes against the staircase wall.

The tree that is visitors will see when they look up is a Yellow Rain Tree. Also known as the yellow variety Samanea Saman, the Rain Tree is a native of Central America and is planted in Singapore for its large, shady, umbrella-shaped crown. The tree can grow up to 30m in height. The bark is dark brown, rough and flaky in mature specimens.

The leaves of the Rain Tree folded up in the evenings and that was why it is also known as Pukul Lima, which means 5 o’clock. The leaflets also close during the day when the sky was overcast, thus giving rise to the name, Rain Tree.
