Istana Maimun adalah istana kebesaran Kesultanan Deli dengan warna kuningnya (kuning merupakan warna kerajaan Melayu) dan khas gaya seni bina Melayu di Medan.

Sebelum menjadi Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia (NKRI), wilayah Nusantara terdiri dari banyak kerajaan bercorak kesukuan dan keagamaan. Nuansa kerajaan-kerajaan itu sebagian besar masih bisa ditemui melalui sejumlah peninggalan, salah satunya adalah istana. Di antara istana yang masih bisa dikunjungi hingga saat ini adalah Istana Maimun.

Istana Maimun merupakan istana peninggalan kerajaan Deli yang dipimpin Sultan Al Rasyid Perkasa Alamsyah pada tahun 1973.

Selain wisata kulinernya yang memikat, Medan juga punya istana ikonik dengan nilai sejarah tinggi, yakni Istana Maimun.

Salah satu ikon Kota Medan ini berlokasi di Jalan Brigjen Katamso, Medan. Istana tersebut merupakan peninggalan kesultanan Deli. Puncak kejayaan Kesultanan Deli.
