Fort Cornwallis (or Kota Cornwallis in Malay) is a good place to start off a day of visiting the old historic buildings of Georgetown.

The fort is built on the site where the British, led by Captain Francis Light, first landed in Pulau Pinang to take possession of the island in 1786.

“带世界至您家门”是槟州环球旅游机构的项目，由槟州旅游与创意经济（ PETACE）办事处发起，槟岛市政厅为支持单位。

在该活动下，旧关仔角草场放置展现英国、 日本、澳洲、印度、中国、阿联酋、美国、法国色彩及12星座的灯饰。

槟州旅游及创意经济发展委员会主席杨顺兴告诉珍珠快讯，推出该活动旨在增强槟州吸引力，同时缓解本地社群气氛，让大家在条管令期间也能“旅游”。

***杨顺兴：缓解疫情情绪***

“我们希望通过活动，缓解疫情期间人们的情绪，给大家带来欢乐，活跃气氛，及体验‘周游列国’。”

他周五受访时说，灯饰布置工作在进行中，预计将于4月27日举行亮灯仪式，暂定于5月及6月开放展出，但之后也会视民众反应作出相应调整。

他续说，配合即将到来的开斋节，目前也在进行开斋节装饰筹备工作，展现我国各族文化特色。

***“体验”异国风情***

到旧关仔角草场“体验”异国风情！

在英国，看到伦敦著名的伦敦桥、大笨钟及西敏寺大教堂，还可见到英国典型的文化标志红色电话亭、红色双层巴士，也有英国皇家卫队操步。

在浪漫法国，少不了盛名在外的埃菲尔铁塔、具有历史性的巴黎凯旋门、极具艺术价值的巴黎圣母院，还有厨师、手持法式长棍面包的男士等。

到阿联酋，可“登上”世界第一高楼哈里发塔，见到外形犹如船帆的阿拉伯塔酒店、宏伟壮观的谢赫扎耶德大清真寺、带着面纱的女子、骆驼等。

来到美国，矗立着自由女神像，也可看到旧金山地标金门大桥，还有牛仔、拉斯维加斯歌舞表演者等。

在中国，除了著名的长城、天安门等，还有具有历史价值的兵马俑、京剧、变脸、武术、逗趣可爱的熊猫。

到日本，穿着和服的女人在樱花树下起舞，也有日本传统相扑，身后是雄美壮观的富士山、先进的新干线子弹头列车等。

在澳洲，可见到著名景点悉尼歌剧院、十二使徒岩，当然也少不了当地标志性动物，如袋鼠、树袋熊等。

来到印度，看到被评选为“世界新七大奇迹”的泰姬陵、孟买有名的景点印度门等，还有在稻田中的船屋、牛等。

***遵守SOP及勿破坏灯饰***

遵守防疫SOP，不要破坏灯饰！

杨顺兴促请到访者勿忘遵守防疫标准作业程序（SOP），而现场除了提醒标语，也有派员站岗，提醒大家遵守SOP，同时保护灯饰。

他解释，据悉，早前有者用木材敲打灯饰，也有人在灯饰旁燃放烟花，因此他呼吁民众不要破坏灯饰，在指定范围外观赏及拍照即可。

他也笑言，有些流浪汉以灯饰为“家”，带着他们的物品住进“悉尼歌剧院”，导致之后还得派员处理他们的物品。

***民众充满期待***

尽管还未正式亮灯，极具各国文化特色的灯饰吸引大家眼球，有些途经旧关仔角的民众，都不禁驻足观赏，有者也打算之后带上家人再来“打卡”。
