Starbucks in Malaysia is operated by Berjaya Starbucks Coffee Company Sdn Bhd., a licensee of Starbucks Coffee International Inc. and owned by Berjaya Food Berhad. From its first store opening in Kuala Lumpur on 17 December 1998, StarbuckStarbucks Malaysias has expanded to 11 states and all three federal territories across the nation. Currently, there are more than 320 stores throughout Malaysia, including over 58 Drive-Thru stores and 10 Reserve™ stores. After more than twenty-years of operations, Starbucks has grown not only to become the favorite coffee place for Malaysians but also a productive member of communities across the country.

From the very beginning, Starbucks has set itself out to be a different kind of company. Aside from achieving extraordinary coffee experiences, Starbucks has made a business out of human connections, community involvement and the celebration of diversity. It is the inclusion of diverse experiences and perspectives that help create a culture of empowerment at Starbucks. At Starbucks Malaysia, we continue to be recognized for our outstanding training and development programs through awards such as ‘Investment in People’ at the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2018 (AREA 2018), and ‘Top Companies to Work for in Asia’ at the Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability awards in 2017. This is a testament the continuous enrichment Starbucks provides through its learning and development programs, such as the Coffee Master certification program, which allows our partners (employees) to develop their proficiency and skills in all things coffee. Starbucks Coffee Masters are easily identifiable by their black aprons, which acknowledges their coffee knowledge and passion for craft.

In December 1998, Starbucks entered Malaysia by opening the 1st store in KL Plaza, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia is also home to the first Starbucks Signing Store in the world, located in Bangsar Village II.
