KAPPO in Lotus's / Tesco Bagan Ajam

Kappo 家宝宝 - visiting to Lotus Bagan Ajam.

Lotus's (formerly Lotus Supercenter, Tesco Lotus Supercenter and Tesco Lotus) is a retail chain in Thailand operated by Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group, with operations in Malaysia through acquisition of Tesco operations in Malaysia since 2020. Tesco Lotus started from the Lotus Supercenter chain started in 1994 by the Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group with the first store opening in Seacon Square. In 1998, British supermarket chain Tesco took a stake to create "Tesco Lotus". CP Group sold most of its shares in Tesco Lotus in 2003.

Tesco Lotus stores currently operate in five formats: Extra, Hypermarket, Department Store, Talad, and Express. Extra, Hypermarket, and Department store formats sell fresh food, prepared foods, and grocery offerings as well as a non-food offerings including electrical appliances, apparel, toys, stationery, and household goods. Talad ('market') is a "supermarket format" selling mainly groceries. Express is a convenience "mini-supermarket" format. Many of the products on the shelf are Tesco house brand products.

LOTUS’S Stores (M) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) 10 March 2022 announced the completion of its rebranding of 62 former Tesco stores and its adoption of technology platforms to deliver goods to consumers.

Tesco M’sia changes name to Lotus’s

We have plenty of grocery stores in Malaysia to sort out our grocery needs. But Tesco happens to hold a special place in our hearts, as many of us often hit up this UK hypermarket chain for groceries, lifestyle products, their in-house brand of chocolates, and to Everyday Value frozen foods that don’t burn holes in our wallets.

But just as nostalgic stores containing memories from our youth, such as Makro, Carrefour and Jusco, have slowly been disappearing from neighbourhoods, Tesco Malaysia’s brand name will soon be taking the same path. Nonetheless, you’ll still see the chain around, as Tesco Malaysia announced on their Facebook page that they’ll be rebranding from Tesco to Lotus’s.

The end of an era for Tesco Malaysia, at least in name

Tesco Malaysia made the announcement on their Facebook page on 15th February 2021. The post can be translated from Malay to English as, “Do you see something different? We have changed our name to Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. Do await this new branding from us. One thing’s for sure, we will continue to make you happy with our services, offers and great products”.

A piano is a percussion instrument, whereas an organ is a woodwind instrument meaning that they produce very different sounds when played. A piano can only sound like a piano, however, an organ can be altered to sound like a variety of woodwind and reed instruments.
